Ciro of Bond Street and New York
Ciro were well established in Bond Street, London, when they opened their flagship store in New York, America. This large badge must have been for the staff to wear during the Jubilee celebrations in the USA as it is far too large for normal wear. It is unmarked, but then it hardly needs marking.
A wonderful proof of when Ciro moved into the American market.
Ciro’s US operations became the largest of its worldwide outlets as the American’s love of costume jewelry was well established, as were their buying habits. In fact Ciro’s shops were such an important selling venue that designer/maker Marcel Boucher was willing to add the Ciro name to his articles sold through the stores. This explains why you sometimes find pieces stamped both Boucher and Ciro.
